Summer Research in Ash Glazes
I was very excited to receive the GIASR (Grant in Aid of Summer Research) for Summer 2024. Below is the body of work I created during the summer period. All of the ashes are composed of Wood Ash, however, the black metallic glaze also contains ash from Cicadas. Many cicadas broke into the studio and died and while cleaning I had the idea to make the most of it.
